The ‘Rocks District AVA’ is one of the world’s premiere wine growing regions and a sub-appellation of the Walla Walla Valley AVA. The Rocks District is almost exclusively one soil type, which is derived from the cobblestone-rich gravels deposited by the Walla Walla River, the only AVA of its kind in the U.S. Due to the texture, the soil is well drained which encourages the vines to bare deep roots and discourages erosion. The surface stones radiate heat that warms the clusters of grapes and influences taste during ripening. The property would be in an ideal location for grape production.
